Foraging just got easier

You've been waiting patiently for it, and at last it's here! Try out the search bar at the top of the page... Ta-daa! ... maps.

If your browser or device allows your location to be known you can simply hit the search bar and be transported to a map of your location. Alternatively add your suburb, town, city or state to the search field first.

One nifty feature is the ability to search for specific foods in or near a location. For example, try searching for: "eggs near Melbourne", or "Tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, spinach in Mississippi", or "olives close to Adelaide".

We'll be adding support later for search based on foods alone, so you'll be able to search for apples, mangoes, eggs or anything else directly through the search bar.

Of course, you can filter the search by adding a minimum or maximum price, selected whether you want to see ripe vs growing, or public vs private produce, and even select categories to limit results to. Changes take place dynamically, and filters are removed the same way you add them.

At this point you might be saying "But there's nothing on the map!". Well, that might be true at this time for your location (zoom out!), but there is something you can do about that. It's time for the good people of the world to unite, to be a little proactive, and join forces to create a new urban food system. So we need you!

So let the online foraging begin!

Excellent site, I do grow my own vegies up here in the mid north and I am looking forward to the map expanding with with other gardeners in the country getting on board.
