Announcing our Continental Collaboration

Submitted by Ripe Near Me on 12th February 2017

We’re excited to reveal another great new feature here on the website – and one that will help you prepare even tastier meals with your RipeNear.Me produce!

We’ve partnered with Continental to create an online integration that enables you to pair your RipeNear.Me produce with delicious dinnertime inspiration. It works like this: locate fresh, home-grown vegetables or herbs in your area and we’ll provide you with great Continental recipes that you can make with them.  Alternatively, visit the Continental website, select the recipe you want to make and we’ll help you source the locally-grown ingredients you need to cook your dish with.

So why, you might ask, have we decided to partner with Continental?  Well, to be honest, we were a bit hesitant at first. But after learning more about their sustainability efforts and their long-held relationships with Aussie farmers, we became confident that Continental was a natural fit for RipeNear.Me and our efforts to connect local food lovers with local growers.

We also know that getting plenty of meal inspiration can play a big part in ensuring that the produce you find on our site is put to good use, ultimately reducing food waste!

We hope you enjoy the new feature and that it helps all you home cooks out there create some great new meals using fresh, locally-grown produce. And in the meantime, if you want to learn more about Continental and its sustainability initiatives, be sure to visit their website.

Isobel Grenfell

We recently moved to South Gippsland near Loch and hope to eventually be self sustaining. In 12 months we have animals , starting an orchard , bees and already a freezer full of our own meat which never left the farm before being humanely killed etc. It is a very confronting thing to raise the animals and then they don't even know what is happening. Anyway we are also breeding chickens and selling free range pastured eggs, they wander round with the cattle and pigs and sheep, we have our first baby lambs , one black and one white. We are off the grid relying on Solar and a back up generator. We are awaiting the birth of our first goat and soon a calf from our Jersey so we will have our own milk.It is hard work with many challenges but we know the origin of our produce (not that there is much yet) but we had a great honey harvest which I sold on Facebook. I recommend this life to anyone with a love of animals Happy day to all Isobel Glenbrae farm
